Sun, sea, & vulnerability

When the warm wind glides on my skin

The longing and regrets break in

I did not forgive enough

I did not forgive myself enough

Every ounce of pain glides with the breeze

To rive the wall that makes me numb

When the cold waves roll on my feet

To the bones they slowly creep

Wounds hurt more in salty water

I am untrusting, coward, weak

I’m a reflection of the sea

Blue, empty, and deep

I am reminded by the sun and sea

Of the forgotten “me”

One that cries

One that’s pained

One that loves and hates

I am reminded by the sun and sea

The beauty in vulnerability
